Suffering's not fun, that much is obvious,
It's hardly enough, to just pretend like it's not harming us,
We've gotta face reality, there's no stopping it,
And when the trials come, we will see if it's in God we trust,
Is He your rock? The foundation that you stand upon?
Or are you grabbin' on to the sand? Did you plan to fall?
Because the hand of God will knock you down to levels where you can't stand alone, and you'll suffer til you've had enough,
And when God's purpose and plan is fully carried out,
You'll start to see and understand why you bear it now,
But until that day, it is a constant struggle,
To put your faith in God and to hold on in trouble,
But everything is for your good and the glory of God,
Remind yourself when it feels like the road is too long,
Though it seems like the end will come never,
At least we know, without a doubt, that this pain won't last forever.

And you can trust in a God who knows all,
He's never shocked by all of the things that go wrong,
He's got it all under control, just hold on,
It'll be clear by the time the clouds are all gone,
But in the meantime, you've gotta believe Christ,
And never lose faith that the Father can see right,
He's got a greater perspective and a higher way,
He's not restrained by man's limited sight or faith,
And if a tidal wave of tragedy strikes,
I pray to God that it's revealed you're satisfied within Christ,
'Cause if you're not, your treasure is in something senseless,
And it might be evidence that you've never repented,
I'm not trying to ignore what you have to endure,
But I care more, about your soul facing the wrath of the Lord,
For those in Him, we know that things will get better,
With great assurance we believe that this pain won't last forever.

God will give you the grace to persevere,
And though right now you can't understand,
Everything that happens is a part of His plan.
